Pearce, Cripps re-sign with Port

Port Adelaide have locked up the services of speedy winger Danyle Pearce for three
years, while also securing assistant coach Jason Cripps for a further two.
The Power have battled a tide of negative news this week surrounding Shaun
Burgoyne's decision to quit the club, but have managed to shore up their playing and
coaching rosters elsewhere.
Pearce is important as one player capable of carrying on from where Burgoyne left
off, though his ability to handle taggers will be severely tested again.
Other players to announce contract extensions on Friday were veteran forward Warren
Tredrea, defender Michael Pettigrew, tagger Tom Logan and budding ruckman Matthew
Lobbe.
Another assistant, Matthew Primus, declared he would be staying on at the Power
earlier this week.
Pearce acknowledged the "re-building" Power were now striving simply to get back
into finals contention after two years out of the top eight, and also said he now
intended to be a one-club player.
"We're in a rebuilding phase at the moment and I'm excited to be apart of that as
this new group strives to get the club back to playing consistent finals football,"
Pearce said in a statement.
Power football operations manager Peter Rohde was happy to have secured a number of
key performers.
"Danyle is a very damaging player who is well respected by every other team, given
that he is heavily tagged every week," he said.
"Michael Pettigrew is able to play back or forward, and has shown in the past he can
be a good player in big games. We look forward to him taking the next step in his
development.
"Tommy Logan is a hard-nut and has played some important roles for us this year
while Matt Lobbe's improvement since transferring to West Adelaide in the SANFL
mid-way through the 2009 season has been very impressive."
