AZERBAIJAN TRADE UNIONS CONFEDERATION`S CHAIRMAN MEETS HONORARY PRESIDENT OF BELGIAN SENATE
Baku, September 17 (AzerTAc). Chairman of Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), MP Sattar Mehbaliyev met Wednesday visiting honorary president of Belgian Senate Anne-Marie Lizin.
Mehbaliyev briefed Mr. Lizin on ATUC`s history and activity, saying it plays significant role in protection of labor rights and solution of workers` social problems. He added ATUC had a membership of 1 600 000.
According to Mehbaliyev, ATUC places special emphasis on solving problems of martyrs` families, refugees and IDPs.
Touching upon bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijani and Belgian trade unions, he expressed confidence that it will continue boosting.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Mehbaliyev underlined his Organization supports the Azerbaijani leadership`s “fair stance” on settlement of the dispute.
Anne-Marie Lizin, in turn, said there was “huge interest” in her country in cooperation with ATUC. She also underlined the importance of developing bilateral ties even more. JB
