EU TO SIGN FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS WITH SOUTHERN CAUCASUS STATES
Baku, September 17 (AzerTAc). The EU General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC) convened in Brussels on September 14 and 15. Amid other topics, the Council discussed the achievement of EU convergence objectives by the South Caucasian countries and also problems of European energy security. Meeting presided over by Swedish Foreign Minister Karl Bildt, also focused on probable signing of EU Eastern Partnership’s free trade area agreements. Under the verbal understanding, European Commission pledged to prepare and submit for consideration a draft for the beginning of direct talks with Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.
Karl Bildt outlined that the EU upholds the development of relations with all states of the Southern Caucasus and looks forward to receiving the EC’s proposals.
