TURKEY POSTS 1.5 MN TL AUGUST BUDGET DEFECIT
ANKARA (A.A) - 15.09.2009 - Turkish Finance Ministry posted Tuesday a budget deficit of 1.525 mn TL for August and 6.607 mn for July, which brought the total budget deficit in 2009 to 31.336 billion TL.
Government expenditure reached 171.7 billion TL, while revenues stood at 140.4 billion TL in 2009, the ministry said.
In the first 8 months of 2009, the budget revenues recorded a 4,4 pc decline and tax revenues dropped 2.3 percent down to 112.8 billion TL.
Last year, Turkish government announced a budget surplus of 4.610 billion TL in the same period.
Primary deficit in June was 1.38 billion TL and 6.533 billion in August.
Turkey saw a primary surplus of 4.11 billion TL, 14.15 billion TL respectively in the same months of 2008.
The ministry also said total primary surplus in 2009 dropped to 9.189 billion TL from 40.9 billion TL, a 77.5 percent slump over the first half of last year.
