UN GA TO DISCUSS FROZEN CONFLICTS IN GUAM MEMBER COUNTRIES

Baku, September 15 (AzerTAc). The frozen conflicts in the GUAM member countries, their impact on the security in the region, situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan have been put onto the agenda of the 64th session of the UN General Assembly. Azerbaijan Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov will be visiting New York on September 21-27 to address the 64th session.
According to head of the “Azerbaijani Community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan Republic” Public Association Bayram Safarov said this issue had been discussed at the 62nd session. The resolution was approved with 39 votes in favor to 7 against, with 100 abstentions. “We were surprised by the position of OSCE Minsk group co-chairs. During discussions, US representative said co-chairs will vote against the document,” Safarov said.
Safarov noted the UN GA approved the document demanding withdrawal of Armenian troops from Azerbaijani occupied lands and recognizing territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. He hoped that the more states would support Azerbaijan`s stance at this session.
