Iran’s exports to Africa up by 150 percent

Iranian companies exported a total of 241 thousand tons of non-oil commodities to African states during the first four months of the Iranian calendar year started March 21.

Head of Arabic and African Bureau of Iran Trade Promotion Organization underlined that the figure indicated 150 percent increase in weight compared to the same period the previous year.

Hossein Hosseini noted that some 164,000 tons of the said amount were exported during the same period in 2008.

He said the commodities were exported to a number of African countries including Mozambique, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Libya, Egypt, Djibouti, Ivorian Coast, Kenya and Algeria.

Hosseini referred to bitumen, flooring, klim, construction materials, industrial and mineral oil, vaseline, toothpaste, medical and dental instruments, tiles and ceramic as some of the main exported items.
