Iran voices protest to quadrilateral Kyrgyzstan meeting
– Iran here Friday voiced an official protest to quadrilateral meeting of Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan in Astana on legal regime of Caspian Sea.
According to IRNA, the Media and Information Bureau of the IRI Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Friday that the Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassadors of the Caspian Sea littoral states informing them that the determination of the littoral countries for finalizing the legal regime and boosting cooperation have had reflection in meeting of the entire five countries, including the most significant summit meeting among them in Tehran.
In related news, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran also forwarded letters to his counterparts in those countries reminding them, “Implementing the entire ratifications of the meetings, particularly the upcoming 3rd summit, call for comprehensive efforts to be made by entire littoral countries, particularly the host country, Azerbaijan Republic.”
Manouchehr Mottaki has in this letter reiterated, “Holding quadrilateral sessions under official, non-official, or consultations topics, in the absence of one, or more countries, not only leads to dissatisfaction, but would pave the way for the emergence of irremunerable misunderstandings, opening the way for the emergence of unilateral solutions.”
Mottaki has in the letter also expressed hope that the wisdom of Kyrgyz leaders would block the path for holding further session in the absence of one, or more members, when the votes of the entire littoral countries are needed at the bottom of any document.
