BRITISH EMBASSY IN BAKU MARKS NATIONAL HOLIDAY – BIRTHDAY OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II

Baku, 10 September (AzerTAc). Embassy of Great Britain to Azerbaijan has convened here an official reception marking the country`s national holiday – birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.
The British Ambassador to Azerbaijan Carolyn Browne said bilateral ties between the two countries have recently considerably developed in various fields.
The diplomat noted ‘effective investment policy of the Azeri government had attracted British businessmen’. According to him, British businessmen are basically interested in oil and gas sectors of the country.
Browne said Great Britain considers Azerbaijan its strategic partner.
The British ambassador stressed importance of Azerbaijan in ensuring Europe`s energy security.
Congratulating the ambassador on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev, minister of industry and energy Natig Aliyev, said British companies have made “great” contribution to development of Azerbaijan`s economy.
The minister said Azerbaijan has always been interested in boosting cooperation with Great Britain, adding official visits by national leader Heydar Aliyev to this country, have played a key role in this regard.
He praised President Ilham Aliyev`s efforts to further develop British-Azerbaijani relationship. Aliyev noted that President Ilham Aliyev`s recent official visit on July has opened a new stage in cooperation ties.
Top Governmental officials, MPs, ambassadors and representatives of international organizations were present in the event.
