Aloisi aiming to outpoint Fowler

Sydney FC striker John Aloisi stresses he will need plenty of help from his team
mates to bring down football deity Robbie Fowler in Saturday's A-League clash with
North Queensland at Sydney Football Stadium.
Through the week the match has been promoted as "Aloisi against God", a reference to
the nickname bestowed upon the prolific former Liverpool striker, who is now leading
the Fury.
Each player is the leading and only multiple goal scorer for his respective club,
each having netted three times this season.
Aloisi scored twice and Fowler once in Sydney's opening round 3-2 win over North
Queensland in Townsville.
Aloisi has scored just once in four subsequent games while Fowler has earned Goal of
the Week honours for each of his efforts in the last two rounds.
An embarrassed-looking Aloisi played down the promotional hype surrounding the two
highest-profile strikers in the competition.
"Look, this is not an individual sport," Aloisi told reporters on Friday.
"It's 11 players against 11 and strikers aren't any good without the service, so we
rely on our team mates."
Aloisi says Fowler's early-season form has been impressive.
"He's been good. A player that has played at such a high level doesn't lose his
awareness and you can see on the pitch even if he is not physically the same as what
he use to be when he played at Liverpool, his touch and his awareness around the box
is brilliant," Aloisi said.
"I think he also brings other players into play, which helps."
Aloisi said Sydney had a lot of room for improvement and said North Queensland were
dangerous and weren't playing like a bottom side.
Sydney enter the round in second place, having lost top spot to Gold Coast, who
punctured their previously unbeaten record last week.
Last-placed Fury are still searching for their first A-League win, but have shown
improved form in successive draws against Adelaide and Brisbane after starting with
three losses.
"We have to keep a clean sheet. We haven't done it this year yet, so I think there
needs to be a bit of pressure on us to hold it to nil," Fury defender Shane
Stefanutto said.
"If we can do that, I'm sure the boys up front will do the job for us."
Fury coach Ian Ferguson wasn't under-estimating the task of defeating a Sydney side
which haven't conceded a goal in their first two home games.
"It's going to be a big game for us. It's a massive task, they are always an
attacking side," Ferguson told reporters.
"They've got pace and they were great on the counter-attack last time, so that's
something we are going to have to combat and hopefully we can go the other way and
hurt them on the counter attack."
Sydney coach Vitezslav Lavicka said he wanted his team to "play more active, more
aggressive" this week.
