66 samples test positive for swine flu in New Delhi
New Delhi, Sep 10 (PTI) The condition of a 35-year-old
man suffering from swine flu was very critical at the Ram
Manohar Lohia Hospital while another 66 people, including 42
children, tested positive for the virus of the deadly disease
in Indian national capital New Delhi Thursday.
With this, the number of swine flu cases reported here
till date stands at 1,096.
The condition of the man "is very critical and he is
on ventilator," N K Chaturvedi, Medical Superintendent, Ram
Maohar Lohia hospital said adding "he is a diabetic patient."
"A total of 1,096 cases have been admitted and treated
in designated government hospitals of H1N1 Flu. Already, 928
cases have been treated and discharged for home. 168 people
are undergoing treatment at various hospitals, out of which
24 cases are admitted in hospitals and the rest were advised
home quarantine," Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia said.
Walia, however, assured the situation is under control
and the government is doing its best to provide treatment to
H1N1 patients in government hospitals.
She advised the people to visit doctors at the earliest
if any symptom of swine flu appears.
Swab samples of the 66 people were reported from
different hospitals including one each in Safdarjung Hospital,
Airport Hospital, Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, Hindu Rao
Hospital, Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial
Hospital, Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalya, Baba Saheb Ambedkar
Hospital and National Institute of Communicable Diseases, two
in Maharishi Balmiki Hospital and Lok Nayak Hospital, three in
RML Hospital, five in DDU Hospital and seven in Pt Madan
Mohan Malviya Hospital.
"These 66 patients include 42 children," Walia said.
