REGULAR MEETING OF UNESCO EXECUTIVE BOARD UNDERWAY IN PARIS

Paris, 9 September (AzerTAc). On 9 September, regular (182nd) session of UNESCO Executive Board started in Paris. The session`s agenda includes over 60 questions. The session is to elect the Organization`s new Director General. Nominees for UNESCO Director General are Alexander Yakovenko from Russian MFA, the minister of culture of Egypt Faruk Hosni, European Commission`s commissioner on foreign relations and European New Neighborhood Policy Benita-Ferrero-Waldner, as well as other nominees representing Latvia, Bulgaria, Algeria and other countries.
The Director-General of UNESCO, Mr. Koichiro Matsuura ends his tenure in November current year. The session will last till 23 September.
