GEORGIA QUAKE ‘DID NOT AFFECT’ BTK CONSTRUCTION

Baku, September 9 (AzerTAc). Yesterday`s earthquake in Georgia did not affect construction of the Georgian part of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, said spokesman of the Azerbaijan Railway Department Nadir Azmammadov.
The quake of magnitude 6.2 hit northern Georgia on Tuesday night but caused no casualties and no major destructions.
According to Azmammadov, the disaster did not affect the daily work of the Georgian railway, which transports huge amount of oil and oil products from Azerbaijan to Black Sea ports.
Azerbaijan loaned AZN27.1 million to Georgia`s government for construction of the Georgian stretch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which is scheduled to complete by 2011.
