Man dies after Coolangatta assault

A 23-year-old man has died in hospital after being assaulted on the Gold Coast,
police say.
Police were called to Griffith Street, Coolangatta at about 3am (AEST) on Sunday
with reports of a serious assault on the popular retail strip.
The 23-year-old man was taken to Tweed Hospital in a critical condition.
Police later charged a 21-year-old Elanora man with one count of grievous bodily
harm over the assault.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.
