TURKEY WILL SUPPORT CHINESE MEASURES TO RESTORE PEACE AND STABILITY IN URUMCHI, MINISTER CAGLAYAN
BEJING (A.A) - 01.09.2009 - Turkish State Minister Zafer Caglayan, who is visiting China, said he voiced Turkey's concerns about the recent events in Urumchi in a meeting with Chinese Premier Ven Ciabao.
Caglayan told reporters Monday that Turkey was supporting all the measures that Chinese government would take to restore peace and stability in Urumchi.
Relations between the two countries were strained with recent outbreak of violence between Uyghurs and Han Chinese population in Urumchi that killed 184 and injured over 1,000.
Caglayan said he observed that both countries were determined to further enhance relations despite incidents in Urumchi.
Caglayan who arrived in China on Saturday has met so far with Chinese Premier Ven and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.
