Storm Financial inquiry on home turf

Devastated investors and former staff will give evidence to a parliamentary inquiry
into the collapsed Storm Financial in Queensland this week.
The inquiry into the conduct of the Townsville-based firm and major banks will hold
public hearings in Cairns on Tuesday, Townsville on Wednesday and Brisbane on
Thursday.
More than 400 submissions, many from financially ruined investors of the firm, have
been received by the inquiry, which will also hold hearings in Sydney and Canberra
later this month.
The former managing director of the company's Cairns branch, Gus Dalle Cort, is
expected to give evidence on Tuesday defending Storm's investment model and accusing
the Commonwealth Bank of misleading and deceptive conduct.
Storm founders Emmanuel and Julie Cassimatis are not scheduled to give evidence to
any of the hearings.
