AZERI HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSIONER MEETS HEAD OF OSCE OFFICE IN BAKU

Baku, August 29 (AzerTAc). Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova met Friday with Head of the OSCE Office in Baku Ali Bilge Cankorel.
Suleymanova said National Action Plan on the Protection of Human Rights in her country was successfully being implemented.
According to her, the Action Plan`s relevant article highlights the preparation and implementation of strategies of cooperation with international human rights organizations, as well as OSCE.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Suleymanova underscored the necessity of resolving the dispute peacefully. She also expressed hope that the OSCE Minsk Group would make more strenuous and fruitful efforts towards settling the conflict.
For his part, Cankorel said the purpose of his meeting with Suleymanova was to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation.
Touching upon the forthcoming municipal elections in the country, Cankorel stressed the necessity of carrying out joint projects to develop electoral culture of the population.
The sides also discussed other issues including the situation of refugees and IDPs and cooperation with civil society organizations.
To achieve more effective cooperation, the diplomat underlined the importance of opening regional representations of the OSCE Office in Baku.
