AIBA UNVEILS FIRST OFFICIAL WORLD RANKINGS
Baku, 25 August (AzerTAc). Ahead of the World Championship due in Milan on September 1-12, International Boxing Federation (AIBA) has unveiled an official international men's world ranking for the first time in its history in the 11 weight categories.
The lists are compiled according to the number of points won by boxers at ranking events. More points are won for performances at the Olympics and the World Championships.
The boxer with the most number of points overall is Vasyl Lomachenko of Ukraine, Olympic featherweight (57kg) champion and winner of the Val Barker Trophy. Lomachenko has 2,900 points. Azerbaijani boxer Shahin Imranov has become third in the 57 kg weight category with 1350 points. There will be eight seeds in each weight category.
