FM: Saudi officials should revise behavior towards Iranian pilgrims

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Monday that Saudi officials should revise their behavior towards Iranian pilgrims and let Minor Hajj ritual be continued.

Mottaki made the remark in a meeting with outgoing Saudi Ambassador to Tehran Osama bin Ahmad Al-Sanousi in Tehran on Monday.

The two sides' leaders call for expansion of friendly ties between the two countries based on mutual respect, Mottaki said.

Highlighting the significant role of Iran and Saudi Arabia, Mottaki said the two countries play a very prominent and leading role in regional developments although there are some minor differences on how to deal with ongoing developments in the region.

The two sides' relations in the past four years should be evaluated to find a better way to meet the two sides’ interests, he pointed out.

Should the Saudi officials revise their behavior towards the Iranian pilgrims, the ritual will be continued, he underlined.

The outgoing Saudi ambassador, for his part, appreciated the hospitality of the Iranian government during his mission in the country and voiced his gratitude to the Iranian nation to this end.
