PM Abhisit to visit India in November
BANGKOK, Aug 16 (TNA) -- Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will compile and analyse statistics on trade and investment between Thailand and India for Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva’s use, and the premier plans to pay an official visit to India in late November, Deputy Prime Minister Korbsak Sabhavasu said on Sunday.
The background data will be used by Mr Abhisit during his stay in India, aimed at widening bilateral trade and investment, said Mr Korbsak. Besides strengthening bilateral relations, Thailand also wants to discuss highway construction project linking Thailand with Myanmar and India, he said.
Economic ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) had signed a long-awaited free trade agreement with India which will take effect from January 1 during the 41st ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting which ended in Bangkok on Sunday. (TNA)
