AZERI ICT MINISTER MEETS LATVIAN TRANSPORT MINISTER
Baku, August 13 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Minister of Communication and Information Technology Ali Abbasov has met Wednesday with Latvian Transport Minister Kaspars Gerhards.
The talks focused on the current state of and prospects for ICT cooperation between the two countries.
Abbasov briefed Gerhards on the work his country has done to develop ICT sector.
He expressed confidence reciprocal visits by the two countries` presidents and documents signed during the Latvian leader`s current visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to boosting bilateral ICT cooperation. “The two countries have huge potential to develop ICT cooperation”, he added.
Abbasov also invited Latvia to participate in the Transnational-Eurasian Information Super Highway project. He noted Latvia`s supporting the project could contribute to expanding ICT cooperation between the Eastern and European countries.
Abbasov underlined there were real opportunities for the two countries` relevant companies to deepen cooperation.
Kaspars Gerhards, in turn, said he supports the proposals put forward by Abbasov.
He said Latvia was interested in enhancing ICT cooperation with Azerbaijan.
He added a certain provision on expansion of ICT cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia was included in a protocol signed on the outcomes of the intergovernmental comission`s third session held in Baku on August 11.
Gerhards also underlined Azerbaijan could use Latvia`s electronic signature and electronic trading experience.
