MILLI MAJLIS SPEAKER MEETS PRIME MINISTER OF GERMAN FEDERAL STATE OF BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERG
Baku, August 12 (AzerTAc). Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov has met Wednesday with Prime Minister of German Federal State of Baden-Württemberg Günther Oettinger.
Asadov said friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Germany had very old and rich history.
According to him, more than 50 documents signed between the two countries had created strong legal basis for bilateral cooperation.
Touching upon the role of parliaments in development of bilateral relationship, Asadov stressed the necessity of expanding activities of friendship groups.
On the economic ties, the Speaker noted trade turnover between the two countries made up $1, 5 billion in 2007 and $2, 4 billion in 2008.
He added Germany-Azerbaijan business forum held in Baku would contribute to boosting bilateral cooperation even more.
Asadov praised the fact that German Bunsdestag-adopted decision on the situation in the South Caucasus confirms Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
For his part, Günther Oettinger said the purpose of the visit was to contribute to enhancing relationship between Azerbaijan and Germany.
He expressed hope that reciprocal visits and bilateral cooperation would serve the interests of the two countries` peoples.
