OIC Chief condemns bombings in Iraq

Jeddah, August 12, SPA -- The Secretary General of the Organization
of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has
condemned in the strongest terms the lethal bombings, which targeted
a large number of Iraqi civilians in the cities of Mosul and Baghdad,
killing and wounding about two hundred people.

In a statement carried yesterday by OIC web-site, Ihsanoglu
expressed his shock and dismay over the targeting of people in public
places, dubbing the bombings as criminal acts.

He urged the Iraqi people to stick to the unity of their country and
avert getting lured by such attempts that use the blood of innocent
people to serve criminal objectives and seek to stir sedition in
order to pull Iraq back into the gloomy days of sedition and strife.

The Secretary General also conveyed his deep sympathy and sincere
condolences to the Iraqi leadership and people, especially the
families of the victims who lost their lives due to these terrorist
attacks. He wished the injured a speedy recovery and Iraq greater
security and stability.
