OIC Chief urges Youths to uphold global peace and stability 2

Jeddah

"I am pleased to note that the theme of International Youth day for
2009 is: “Sustainability: Our Challenge, Our future”.

"There could not be a more appropriate and relevant theme for
today’s youths to take up. Our world today is facing a perilous
threat of environmental degradation that could endanger our very
existence. The global warming has already brought about climate
changes that could result in rise of the sea level and have
devastating consequences.

I call on all stakeholders of the international community to take a
firm and united resolve to do more in raising awareness among the
youths of the challenge of sustainability and of their role and
responsibilities as future leaders.

This day is a fitting occasion for the youths of different
communities and backgrounds to come together to build and develop
understanding and tolerance of each other and to devote themselves to
the task of building a better world for themselves," he said.
