LATVIAN PRESIDENT`S SPOUSE VISITS THALASSEMIA CENTER IN BAKU
Baku, August 10 (AzerTAc). Latvian President Valdis Zatlers` spouse Lilita Zatlers has visited the Thalassemia Center here on Monday.
Director of the center Azar Karimov told Mrs. Zatlers the facility was constructed as part of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation-initiated “For Life without Thalassemia” Program.
He noted the center serves about 50 patients a day.
Karimov pointed out there are approximately 1000 people living with thalassemia, of whom 700 are under control.
The Center which has three regional branches is up to the international standards.
Mrs. Zatlers praised the work of the Center.
