CONSTRUCTION OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE SEAPORT IN ALAT TO BEGIN IN LATE 2009
Baku, August 9 (AzerTAc). Construction of the new international trade port in Alat will start at the end of 2009 as the general plan of the site has been prepared, Transport Ministry said.
The port will allow improving ecological situation in Baku and increase cargo traffic.
The seaport will be relocated in three stages. The first phase will sea preparation of the general plan of the construction site, the second one – seabed excavation and construction and final stage tender to select a contractor. With completing construction in 2015, the seaport will handle 11.6 million tons of cargo.
