AZERI GRANDMASTER 8th IN FIDE RANKINGS
Baku, August 8 (AzerTAc). The World Chess Federation, FIDE, has announced its latest top 100 list where Azerbaijani grandmaster Teymur Rajabov is ranked 8th.
With 2,756 points Rajabov is two spots above his teammate Vugar Hashimov who has 2,740 points.
There are three more Azeri grandmasters in the rankings: Shahriyar Mammadyarov, 19th, Gadir Huseynov, 66th, and Rauf Mammadov, 96th.
Bulgaria`s Veselin Topalov tops the list of the world`s best 100 chess players with 2,813 points. He is followed by Indian Viswanathan Anand, 2,788 pts, and Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, 2,772 pts.
Another Azeri player Eltac Safarli is ranked 17th in the FIDE top 20 young players list.
