Oman to invest in Iranian Qeshm FTZ – ministers
Oman's Oil and Gas minister, Mohammad bin Hamad bin Seif al-Rumhy, said here Friday that his country will set up an oil station in Qeshm Island.
“With the information I had about Qeshm Island and having observed the important economic condition of Qeshm Free Zone, our idea for establishment of an oil station in the region became absolute,” al-Rumhy told IRNA after visiting the Island along with several other Omani ministers and officials.
He said Qeshm has a good condition for oil cooperation due to existence of giant oil, gas and energy reserves there.
He added that besides the oil sector, Oman will invest in the project for establishment of a 500 megawatt power station in Qeshm Free Trade Zone.
Meanwhile, Oman's Economy Minister, Ahmad bin Abdul Nabi Mekki, told IRNA after the inspection visit that facilities and laws on encouragement of foreign investment in the FTZ will persuade Omani entrepreneurs to invest there.
