Malaysia and Brunei have agreed to speed up agreement
Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia and Brunei have agreed to speed up the
implementation of previously signed agreements on marine and land border-related
issues.
Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tu Razak who is visiting Brunei and
the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah reached the consensus during their talks on
August 5.
The two leaders emphasised the need to strengthen security and work together to
cope with the adverse impacts of the global economic and financial crisis as well
as dealing with the threat of the A/H1N1 influenza virus.
They also intend to foster economic development in both countries.
A joint statement released after the talks said that Malaysia and Brunei
would increase the flow of investment in agriculture and food processing. Brunei
will also promote investment in palm oil production in Malaysia .
Malaysia and Brunei both agreed to cooperate in developing hydroelectric
power and tourism projects, according to the statement.-Enditem
