AZERI WRESTLER STRIKES WORLD GOLD
Ankara, August 6 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Orkhan Ahmadov has won gold medal in the world youth Greco-Roman wrestling 55kg class after defeating Iran`s Mohammed Hatami.
Ahmadov, the European champion, beat Hatami 2-0 2-0 to add second gold to Azerbaijan`s medal haul after Hasan Aliyev came out on top in the 60kg class yesterday.
Azerbaijan ranked third in the overall medal table topped by Iran and Russia.
Wednesday will see the start of women`s competition in which Azerbaijan`s hopes will be pinned on Amina Abbasova weighing in at 48kg.
