Supreme leader receives Sultan Qaboos of Oman
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed, king of Oman, here on Tuesday said that Iran-Oman relations in the past 30 years has always been 'good and brotherly'.
The supreme leader underlined that considering deep religious, historical, and geographical commonalities between the two countries, there is an enormous potential for mutual cooperation and expansion of ties.
Referring to one of the most sensitive sea passages in the world between Iran and Oman, the supreme leader said security is the most important issue in the Middle East region adding that the US and a number of other interferering countries have never let the sensitive region witness tranquility and have always tried to infuse insecurity and suspicion into the region.
He pointed out that regional countries should provide security in the region through cooperation.
Sultan Qaboos, by expressing satisfaction over his visit to Iran and meeting with senior officials of the country, said that the ground is ready for deepening ties between Iran and Oman and he has negotiated in this concern here, especially in the field of expanding economic ties.
Referring to the supreme leader statement concerning importance of security in the region, Sultan Qaboos pointed out that countries of the Middle East should provide ground for sustainable security in the region by expanding cooperation between them.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also in the meeting.
