Iran to export organic agricultural products

– Iran is to export its organic/biodynamic agricultural products in near future.

Head of commodities export development bureau affiliated to the Iran's Trade Promotion Organization said a policymaking headquarter for organic agricultural products will be set up in Agricultural Jihad Ministry in near future.

Mehrdad Jalali-Pour said the measure will prepare the ground for recognizing the organic agricultural products and issuance of certificate for them across the country.

He said once the ground is prepared, Iran has the capacity to export some 10 percent of its organic agricultural products.

Organic/biodynamic production is a system that rests upon a broad range of philosophical and practical action strategies, which directly contribute to a healthy biosphere and people.

It does not use synthetic chemicals, artificial high input fertilizers or genetically modified organisms.

In fact, it promotes enhanced biological activity through integrated management in its pathway to sustainability.

Organic markets are emerging worldwide, mainly in response to the increasing consumer concerns about food health and safety and a community desire for sustainable food production.
