Two men questioned over shooting death

Two men are being questioned by police over a shooting in western Sydney that left a
man dead and prompted a siege in a suburban home.
A 37-year-old was shot repeatedly, and possibly hit on the head with bricks, just
after midday (AEST) on Sunday in Sulman Road, Cabramatta West.
He was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition and later died, police
said.
Tactical response teams sealed off several streets after the shooting.
Two men, aged 19 and 18, were arrested outside a home on Disalvo Close, about two
blocks away, about 5pm.
They were taken to Cabramatta police station for questioning.
Police said the siege had been peacefully resolved but their operation was ongoing.
Cabramatta police Detective David Tucker confirmed the shooting occurred just after
12pm.
"A 37-year-old Cabramatta man received a number of gunshot wounds on Sulman Road,
Cabramatta West," Detective Tucker told reporters.
Forensic investigators are assisting Cabramatta police.
A crime scene has been established and police have appealed for anyone with
information about the shooting to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
The Cumberland Highway in Cabramatta, between John Street and St John's Road, was
sealed off and motorists urged to avoid the area during the afternoon.
Residents were prevented from leaving their homes while the siege was under way, and
a heavy police presence has been maintained in the area.
