Australians` bodies return from Jakarta
The bodies of two Australians killed in the Jakarta hotel attacks were due to be
flown home on Wednesday, as police revealed one of the suicide bombers could have
been as young as 16.
The bodies of Perth businessman Nathan Verity and Austrade official Craig Senger
were moved from a Jakarta hospital morgue to the nearby airport early on Wednesday
afternoon ahead of their expected repatriation later in the day.
The body of Brisbane businessman Garth McEvoy was returned to Australia on Tuesday.
The three Australians were among nine people, including the two bombers, killed in
the coordinated suicide bombings on the JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton hotels on
Friday. More than 50 people were injured.
Indonesian police on Wednesday released sketches of the suspected bombers, based on
forensic reconstructions of two severed heads at the bomb sites.
Police said they were still trying to identify the bombers, one of whom they believe
could have been as young as 16. The other is believed to have been aged between 20
and 40.
Local media speculation has focused on two men named Nur Hasbi and Ibrahim, but
police said DNA samples taken from the pair's families did not match the heads.
"Nur Hasbi's family's DNA was not identical to the head found at the crime scene,"
police spokesman Nanan Sukarna told journalists.
"Ibrahim's family has also been tested, and the DNA was not identical either."
Fugitive Malaysian-born radical Noordin Mohammad Top, who leads a hardline splinter
group of the al-Qaeda-linked terror outfit Jemaah Islamiah (JI), has been named the
suspected mastermind of the attacks.
Authorities believe Top was also involved in the 2002 and 2005 Bali bombings, a 2003
attack on the Marriott and the 2004 attack on Australia's embassy in Jakarta.
Indonesian media on Wednesday reported a woman believed to be one of Top's wives had
been detained.
Broadcasters TVOne and MetroTV said Ariana Rahma would be questioned in Jakarta over
the bombings.
