Iran manufacturing ship to collect oil spills from sea


A projects to build multi-purpose ship for collecting oil spills from surface of the sea was launched in Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan province, on Wednesday.

The ship has been designed to collect oil spills from surface of the sea.

Kish BOT Service in charge of Build-Operate-Transfer -- affiliated to the Ports and Shipping Organization -- has signed the contract for building the ship.

The ship has been envisaged to be built in 18 months.

The multi-purpose ship will collect oil spills from surface of sea in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, cutting dependence on foreign countries and put an end to purchase of hardware form foreigners and to create new job opportunities in Iran.

The contract of the project was inked between Iran Kish BOT Service (buyer) and Bahr Gostaresh Hormuz (shipbuilding entity).

As per the contract some rials 500 billion will be paid to contractor for the project.
