Szubanski loses 25kg to reach goal
Funny lady Magda Szubanski has triumphed in her weight loss battle, losing almost a
quarter of her body weight.
Szubanski has revealed she's shed 25kg to reach her target weight of 85kg.
"I feel like I've climbed Mount Everest," Szubanski said.
"I can honestly say, I can't remember a time in my life when I felt better."
Szubanski has shown off her new figure on the cover of the latest Australian Women's
Weekly, wearing a figure hugging black dress and pink trench coat.
"I just feel so well and have so much energy, not just for exercise, but for life,"
the 48-year-old tells the magazine in a five page feature.
"But it's more than that.
"That niggling worry that used to be there sabotaging everything I did, that
horrible anxiety, is gone."
The Kath and Kim and Guys and Dolls musical star signed up to a weight loss program
with Jenny Craig last year after a series of health problems.
She had been diagnosed with sleep apnoea, had back, hip and knee pain, and a
recurring lung infection.
Szubanski has not been this light since the late 1980s and said she couldn't believe
how far she'd come.
"It's taking a while to sink in that the little person looking back at me in the
mirror is me," Szubanski said.
She told the magazine that she burst into tears when she walked into a shop and
tried something on off the rack and it fit.
"We live in such a fat-phobic society that I don't think I realised just how bad and
shamed I felt by my size," Szubanski said.
"Now, when I go into shops, I get really nervous and shy but for a different reason.
"I get intimidated by all the choices that are out there and I don't really know
what my style is yet."
Szubanski, who was 121kg at her heaviest, said she was determined not to put the
weight back on.
