Iran, Russia call for resistance against Western culture incursion
IRNA chief Mohammad-Ja'far Behdad and Russian Culture Minister Alexander Avdeyev here on Tuesday underlined the need for safeguarding native cultures against the incursion by the Western culture.
The two officials called for further expansion of Tehran-Moscow bilateral cultural cooperation and urged materialization of cultural agreements reached between the two sides.
The Iranian and Russian elites are concerned that the young generations would be alienated from their history and civilization, Behdad said.
Referring to the cultural incursion by certain Western states, the IRNA managing director expressed hope that resistance of Russian cultural figures against objectives of the enemies would bear fruit.
However, Behdad underscored the need for establishment of friendly economic relations with developed countries.
As to the high level of Iran-Russia bilateral cooperation, he said the two countries’ news agencies are also determined to boost mutual ties.
Lauding Iran's rich civilization and culture, Avdeyev welcomed the expansion of relations between IRNA and Itar-Tass.
He also called for promotion of Tehran-Moscow cultural cooperation.
IRNA chief, heading a delegation, arrived in Moscow Sunday morning upon an official invitation extended by his Russian counterpart.
During his stay, Iran and Russia are to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on expansion of mutual cooperation.
