Bahrain hosts 4th Gulf Gathering of Ship for World Youth Alumni

Manama, Feb. 19 (BNA): Bahrain hosted the 4th Annual Gulf Gathering of the Ship for World Youth Alumni Association (SWYAA), organised by the Ship for World Youth Alumni Association – Bahrain under the Ministry of Youth Affairs. About 30 alumni participated from Oman, UAE, Kuwait, Turkey, and Spain.
The event was attended by Okai Asako, Ambassador of Japan to Bahrain, Nani Mohammed Butti, Assistant Undersecretary for Support and Initiatives at the Ministry of Youth Affairs, along with ministry directors and heads of the Ship for World Youth associations from participating countries, highlighting the event’s importance in supporting Gulf and international youth initiatives.
The programme included leadership, community, and cultural activities, such as visits to Bahrain’s landmarks, pottery workshops, and a community service session for children of the Parents of People with Disabilities Association, reflecting the gathering’s humanitarian and volunteer focus. Alumni also exchanged experiences and showcased youth initiatives from their countries.
Khaled Salman Al Shaikh, President of Ship for World Youth Alumni Association – Bahrain, noted that hosting the gathering reflects Bahrain’s commitment to youth development and regional partnerships. He emphasised that the programme, launched in 1988, has prepared impactful youth leaders and aims to strengthen Gulf and international alumni ties, develop future gatherings, and launch collaborative youth projects.
The Ship for World Youth Programme (SWY), initiated by the Japanese government, empowers young leaders through international cultural exchange, dialogue, and experiential learning. It provides participants with platforms for discussions, educational and cultural activities, fostering global awareness, cooperation, leadership skills, and active community engagement.
