Indonesia reaffirms support for two-state solution as path to lasting peace

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed that Indonesia, along with eight other Muslim-majority countries participating in the Gaza Board of Peace (BoP), supports a two-state solution as the only viable path toward lasting peace in Gaza.

“For us, the two-state solution is the only real and lasting solution,” President Prabowo told reporters after the Board of Peace summit in Washington, DC, on Thursday.

President Prabowo and several leaders from Muslim-majority nations attended the inaugural summit, held on Thursday morning at the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace, formerly known as the United States Institute of Peace (USIP).

The three-hour meeting was hosted and initiated by US President Donald Trump and featured a series of intervention sessions in which each participating leader, including President Prabowo, presented their official position.

Prabowo described the first summit as successful, citing reports of progress in restoring daily life in Gaza following the ceasefire. The discussions also addressed the board’s future plans for recovery and reconstruction in the territory.

“We are determined to make it a success because it offers hope for peace,” he said.

The president added that during the summit he highlighted the numerous challenges and obstacles facing efforts to restore stability in Gaza.

“I also reminded them that there are many difficulties ahead - many hurdles and challenges - but we must remain determined to succeed for the sake of the Palestinian people,” Prabowo said.

He also called on all parties to remain vigilant against potential disruptions by groups seeking to undermine the board’s efforts to achieve peace in Gaza.

On the occasion, President Prabowo expressed optimism about the board’s future plans.

“The future for the people of Palestine in Gaza will be much better,” he said.
