Budi95 Benefits More Than 14.6 Mln Malaysians As At Feb 11 -- Amir Hamzah
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- More than 14.6 million Malaysians have enjoyed subsidised RON95 petrol prices under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme as of Feb 11, 2026, said Malaysia's Minister of Finance II, Amir Hamzah Azizan
According to Amir Hamzah, the BUDI95 system processes an average of 3.1 million transactions per day without disruption.
“Through BUDI95, the public receives RON95 at RM1.99 (US$0.50) per litre directly at the pump, with no new registration or complicated procedures required.
“The use of MyKad as an eligibility verification mechanism for targeted subsidies has proven effective and practical,” he told the Dewan Rakyat (Lower House Parliament) during the Ministers’ Question Time today.
He was responding to a follow-up question from Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (PH-Tebrau), who sought clarification on fiscal reforms that have been successfully implemented, such as BUDI95, launched in October 2025, and the government’s plans to replicate this targeting mechanism for other goods, such as cooking oil and sugar.
Amir Hamzah said that identity-based verification for citizens also helps reduce leakage to non-citizens.
Looking ahead, he said the government, through the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), is studying the use of MyKad for the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme (COSS).
Amir Hamzah added that a further study is underway to expand the use of the existing MyKad-based ecosystem, including integration with the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) system to strengthen identity verification for monitoring the sale of subsidised cooking oil.
