Act A1779 Engagement Session Explains Amendments To Stakeholders - Atom Malaysia
PUTRAJAYA, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- The engagement session on the Atomic Energy Licensing (Amendment) Act 2025 (Act A1779) serves as an effective communication platform between the Department of Atomic Energy (Atom Malaysia) and stakeholders to explain the amendments and obtain feedback.
In a statement today, Atom Malaysia said the first engagement session was held today and officiated by its director-general, Noraishah Pungut.
The programme was attended by 705 stakeholders under the Atomic Energy Act 1984 (Act 304), and similar engagement sessions on Act A1779 will be conducted more widely throughout the year.
“The session also provided participants with a better understanding of the strengthened control and regulatory framework for atomic energy activities under Act A1779, ensuring that safety, security and safeguards remain protected in the interest of the people, the environment and the nation,” read the statement.
The Atomic Energy Act 1984 (Act 304), as amended through Act A1779, came into force on Dec 1 last year under Atom Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
The amendments aim to strengthen the legal framework governing atomic energy activities, covering safety, security and safeguards, in line with international standards and best practices.
