People’s Party Accepts Election Outcome

BANGKOK, Feb 9 (TNA) - Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, leader of the progressive People’s Party acknowledged the election results on Sunday after unofficial tallies showed the party finishing second in the general election.

Speaking from party headquarters, Natthaphong thanked voters for their turnout in both the parliamentary vote and the simultaneous constitutional referendum. While final results are pending, he expressed optimism over early data suggesting a strong public mandate to draft a new constitution.

Acknowledging the outcome, Natthaphong said the People’s Party would respect parliamentary protocol by letting the winning party take the lead in forming a coalition.

Natthaphong confirmed the party will move to the opposition if Bhumjaithai forms a government, as they cannot support its candidate for Prime Minister.

Despite falling short of its top-spot goal, the party remains committed to its mission of "people-centric" political reform and policy advocacy.

Addressing cheering fans, Natthaphong urged them not to lose hope. "As long as we have each other, we will continue to fight for the change we believe in," he said. -819 (TNA)
