Speaker receives Brazilian Senator

Manama, Feb. 1 (BNA): Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, met with a Brazilian Congress delegation led by Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, the Chair of the Public Security Committee in the Brazilian Federal Senate.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and discussed efforts to enhance cooperation in parliamentary, economic, and investment sectors, exchange experiences in parliamentary work, and coordination in international parliamentary forums.
The Speaker highlighted the strong ties between Bahrain and the Federative Republic of Brazil, noting ongoing development across all sectors, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil.
He highlighted the importance of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and the role of the Parliamentary Friendship Group in advancing bilateral projects.
The Speaker also highlighted the positive outcomes of reciprocal parliamentary visits, including the Bahraini delegation to Brazil in June 2024, which opened new avenues for cooperation. Both sides emphasised the role of their foreign policies and noted Bahrain’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2026 – 2027, reflecting international confidence in its balanced approach and support for peace, stability, and coexistence.
On his part, the Senator commended the strong relations between the two countries and Bahrain’s comprehensive development process, expressing appreciation for the Speaker’s efforts in enhancing bilateral and parliamentary cooperation.
