PM Affirms Iraq's Supportive Stance Towards Security And Stability In The Region And Efforts To Resolve Conflicts

Baghdad / NINA/- Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq’s firm stance in support of security and stability in the region, as well as efforts aimed at resolving conflicts through dialogue and international responsibility.
According to a statement from his media office, Al-Sudani received on Wednesday the Norwegian Chargé d’Affaires to Iraq, Alexander Lervold, along with an accompanying delegation that included Frida Nome, Head of the Middle East Desk at the Norwegian Centre for Conflict Resolution.
The meeting reviewed Iraqi-Norwegian relations and ways to strengthen them in a manner that serves mutual interests and enhances joint developmental, economic, and investment cooperation.
The discussions also addressed the issue of transferring ISIS terrorist elements, with the Prime Minister stressing Iraq’s support for regional security and stability efforts.
He reiterated the importance of the international community assuming its responsibilities by repatriating foreign nationals among detainees and bringing them to justice in their home countries.
Al-Sudani outlined Iraq’s approach, emphasizing its strong commitment to activating dialogue in addressing regional conflicts, based on global values and principles and in a manner that safeguards the rights of peoples over their lands, as a foundation for resolving disputes and conflicts between states.
For his part, the Norwegian Chargé d’Affaires conveyed his government’s greetings to the Prime Minister and expressed Norway’s desire to expand cooperation with Iraq, activate joint understandings, and move forward with projects related to environmental protection and peaceful coexistence supported by Norway in Iraq./ End
