President Zhaparov: Kyrgyzstan to become major transit route between East Asia and Europe

Bishkek, Dec. 25, 2025. /Kabar/. The shortest transit route from East Asia to Europe will begin to pass through Kyrgyzstan. President Sadyr Japarov announced this at the 4th People's Kurultai.

As the head of state noted, large-scale work is currently underway to build the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. This is not just a railway line, it is artery capable of changing the Eurasian economic map. Kyrgyzstan will soon become a major player in the global logistics and transport industry.

"This megaproject creates great opportunities: growth in transit revenues; development of export potential; emergence of logistics hubs and industrial zones; influx of investments; development of related industries: construction, metallurgy, production of building materials, mining industry, state services. All this will be implemented quickly. The construction of a new railway Balykchy - Kochkor - Kara-Keche - Makmal, which is of strategic and long-term importance for the economy of Kyrgyzstan, is an important step in the development of the country's transport system.

This railway line will be infrastructure corridor that opens the way to large industrial centers, connects production areas and creates a new economic configuration of the central regions of the country," the president said.

Sadyr Zhaparov also added that the construction of the road will solve several key issues:

  • provides direct rail access to large coal and industrial areas;

  • creates an alternative to automobile routes, reducing freight and transportation costs on roads;

  • allows organizing logistics for large industrial and mining enterprises;
