The Minister of Planning Affirms the Iraqi Government's Commitment to Expanding Cooperation With the UN

Baghdad / NINA /-Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Planning, Mohammed Tamim, affirmed the Iraqi government’s keenness to expand cooperation with the United Nations and benefit from its expertise in supporting the country’s development pathways.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Planning, the Minister received, on Thursday, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan, during which prospects for enhancing joint cooperation between Iraq and the United Nations were discussed.

The statement added that the meeting reviewed existing areas of cooperation, particularly those related to supporting the implementation of development plans and strengthening partnerships in priority sectors, in a manner that contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Minister Tamim emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with the United Nations and leveraging its technical and advisory expertise to support development programs, build institutional capacities, and enhance data- and indicator-based planning.

For his part, Mohammed Al-Hassan reaffirmed the United Nations’ commitment to continuing its support for Iraq’s development and reform efforts, praising the government’s efforts in preparing development plans and strengthening coordination with international partners./ End
