Bahrain's Parliamentary Division delegation participates in APA Budget and Planning Committee Meeting in Doha

Doha, Dec. 24 (BNA): MP Ahmed Sabah Al Saloom, Head of the Parliamentary Division delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, participated in the Standing Committee on Budget and Planning of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) meeting held in Qatar.
Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, Shura Council Member, was present.
Al Saloom affirmed that the Kingdom’s influential position and growing trust at regional and international levels are grounded in the strong leadership approach established by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This approach emphasises collective action, responsible dialogue, and the strengthening of institutional frameworks for regional and international cooperation.
He highlighted that the committee’s role extends beyond technical and procedural matters, serving as a strategic framework that links the APA's political vision with its executive mechanisms. This ensures that plans and budgets align with priorities, enhance credibility, and reinforce the effectiveness of parliamentary work across Asia.
Al Saloom also underlined the committee’s crucial role in improving the APA’s institutional efficiency and ensuring the sustainability of its programmes and activities through sound financial planning, responsible resource management, and adherence to transparency and accountability principles.
He added that Bahrain looks forward with pride to presiding over the sixteenth general session of the APA in early 2026. The legislative authority views this responsibility as both a shared duty and an opportunity to advance Asian parliamentary work, activate specialised committees, particularly the Budget and Planning Committee, and ensure optimal use of resources while achieving a tangible impact through the Assembly’s activities.
Al Saloom highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to working in the spirit of partnership and constructive consultation with member states and the APA Secretariat, aiming to approve realistic and implementable plans and budgets that meet the Assembly’s aspirations and align with future requirements.
