AWS Bahrain launches Amazon Bedrock in partnership with Information & eGovernment Authority

Manama, Dec. 19 (BNA): Mohamed Ali Al Qaed, Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, welcomed AWS’ plan to introduce Amazon Bedrock, one of the world’s leading solutions for generative artificial intelligence (AI), in Bahrain. The move supports the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its leadership in technology and smart governance and its strategic vision of becoming a regional center for AI and digital transformation.
Al Qaed explained that the initiative aligns with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and the National AI Policy, while adhering to the highest standards of data protection and privacy. “The service will enable public and private entities to benefit from secure, ready-to-use models that support the development of innovative generative AI solutions. These will help boost operational efficiency and improve service quality, especially in Arabic, with a high level of accuracy,” Al Qaed added.
iGA Chief Executive also emphasized that Amazon Bedrock will be integrated into the government AWS cloud in Bahrain, giving entities early access and simplifying the adoption of these advanced capabilities.
Al Qaed highlighted that Amazon Bedrock offers a sophisticated platform that allows organizations to use the latest generative AI models to build intelligent applications capable of analyzing data, generating content, and powering efficient virtual assistants, without needing complex technical infrastructure.
“The iGA’s partnership with AWS driven from the company’s global expertise in cloud computing and its strong standards for security, reliability, and scalability. This collaboration will help accelerate digital transformation, enhance service delivery, and support AI-driven innovation in line with leading international practices”, Al Qaed mentioned.
He highlighted that offering Amazon Bedrock in Bahrain will bring several key benefits, including improving government performance, strengthening institutional innovation, supporting better decision-making, and expanding the use of artificial intelligence across national digital initiatives. It will also reinforce Bahrain’s status as a regional leader in digital transformation and demonstrate its commitment to advancing responsible AI adoption for citizens, residents, and businesses.
“This development will support the capabilities of the iGA Innovation Lab by enabling it to test and develop new AI models responsibly, supporting Bahrain’s digital transformation journey and opening new opportunities for innovation across multiple sectors,” he said.
Al Qaed concluded by expressing his confidence that Amazon Bedrock will drive further progress across the kingdom’s sectors and help the Kingdom keep pace with global advancements in AI and emerging technologies.
