President Zhaparov met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito

Bishkek, Dec.19, 2025. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito, December 19, as part of his official visit to Japan.

The issues of strengthening friendly ties between Kyrgyzstan and Japan, developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as expanding mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples were discussed.

Emperor Naruhito warmly welcomed the head of state and emphasized that his visit is important for further deepening Kyrgyz-Japanese relations.

In turn, the president said that the Kyrgyz people have sincere warm feelings for the friendly Japanese people, highly appreciate their culture and traditions.

Sadyr Zhaparov highly appreciated the successful holding of the EXPO-2025 World Exhibition in Osaka and noted the significance of the awarding of the gold award to the National Pavilion of Kyrgyzstan in the "Expanding Life Opportunities" category.

President noted the important role of Japanese technologies and educational programs in the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan. Special attention was also paid to the Japanese scholarship program, which helps to form new generation of civil servants.

Zhaparov noted that the interest of young people in the Japanese language and culture is steadily growing, and currently about 700 students are studying Japanese studies and the Japanese language at four universities in the country.

Sadyr Zhaparov highly appreciated the Emperor's scientific activities in the field of water resources and expressed his interest in deepening cooperation in the field of sustainable development of mountainous regions. He also invited Emperor Naruhito to participate in the Second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25" to be held in 2027.

At the end of the meeting, President Sadyr Zhaparov thanked for the warm welcome and invited Emperor Naruhito to visit Kyrgyzstan at a convenient time.
