Nozari: Iran to stop selling oil in crude form in 5th Plan
– Minister of Oil Gholam-Hossein Nozari said here Saturday that Iran will in the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan stop selling oil in crude form.
Speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of the ground breaking ceremony of Shiraz Petrofield Refinery, Nozari said that in the Fifth Plan, the country will sell products resulting from transformation of raw materials into goods with high value-added.
He said the idea of avoiding sell of crude form of oil is based on the guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in connection with the oil industry and it will serve as one of the main policies of government in the 5th Plan.
“We believe that we should preserve our status in the OPEC as its second major oil supplier so as to fulfill our main duty in the oil market. We also plan to raise the crude production capacity to 5,100,000 bpd in the 5th Plan from 4,300,000 bpd today. As a major crude supplier in the world and in OPEC we should maintain the condition.”
He said that as for the petrochemical sector, the 20-Year Vision Plan in the oil industry plans achieving the status of the first major producer of petrochemical products in the region.
