Bahrain to host World Camelids Sports General Assembly for first time

Manama, Dec. 14 (BNA):  The Kingdom of Bahrain will host the World Camelids Sports (WCS) General Assembly on December 19 and 20 at The Art Rotana Resort on Amwaj Islands in Muharraq Governorate.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Authority for Sports, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, expressed his pride in Bahrain hosting the International Camel Federation’s General Assembly for the first time, with participation from more than 70 countries, reflecting the Kingdom’s growing status as a key hub for regional and international sporting events across various disciplines.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad added that hosting the event reflects the directives and vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, aimed at enhancing Bahrain’s presence on the global sporting map and strengthening cooperation with international sports federations and organisations.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad also noted that camel racing, with its deep historical and cultural significance in the region, is witnessing tangible development both technically and organisationally.  He described the General Assembly as an important milestone to support the sport’s progression, develop its regulations and competitions in a manner that serves the aspirations of all member countries, and expressed his pleasure at the growing popularity of the sport, which was included for the first time in the third edition of the Asian Youth Games hosted by Bahrain in October.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed hope that this event will open wider avenues for cooperation between the WCS and the Kingdom to advance and develop the sport regionally and globally.
